迁涉新居，最重要的就是挑选吉日。根据黄历上所说的，搬家宜选择驿马日、三合日、黄道日、成日等时间。比如一些民俗忌日、黑道日、破日、败日等是凶日，不宜搬家。另外若是这日与家人的生肖相冲，也是不宜选择的。

搬家当天入住新宅的时间最好是在早上也可以是中午，但是一定要赶在下午日落之前，尽量避免夜间进入新宅。否则风水知识中有早出晚归，日夜操劳的不利寓意。

3、不可空手

搬家的那一天，第一次走进新房的时候，切不可空手入新屋。手上一定拿一些贵重物品或生活用品。可以选择米缸或是米桶，寓意衣食无忧；也可抱着被盖，象征生活安稳；或是拿着存折、银行卡，象征一路财运跟着入住新家。
